Team USA is getting in the Thanksgiving mood early as everyone is beyond thankful for Sweden’s phenomenal breakfast. The only thing more impressive than the breakfast array is how Jillian Dempsey can inhale four plates. I’m pretty sure the only thing that stopped her from taking down plate #5 was “load the bus for pre-game skate.”
Before everyone came out for pre-game skate, Cahow, Reagan (Director of Women’s Hockey) and I played chuck-a-puck. My second toss landed dead center and Cahow’s throws came respectably close. Reagan, on the other hand…well, let’s just say she earned participation points. However, I dare someone to challenge Reagan in 4 Square (reigning champ.)
Coaches threw together a solid pre-game skate … 20 minutes of flow drills then the last 25 minutes were free time. After our cool down, we headed back to the hotel for pre-game meal and some rest. We took on Sweden, the host country, in our opening game of the Four Nations Cup. Our team is an awesome collection of individuals and everyone looked great tonight. It was a shooting range as we fired 71 pucks on net in our 8-0 win.
Thanks to the fans in the stands … Mrs. Schaus, the Chueys, Brent Lam, Peter Forsberg, and Mats Sundin (FYI Peter and Mats – Pottsy and I have you guys on the pass list all tournament). Also, a big thanks to those who are cheering us on back home. Can’t wait to breakdown tonight’s video with Team USA’s unofficial head scout: Maura Bell J
God bless,
Gigi
