Four Nations Diary with Gigi Marvin – Nov. 6/7

U.S. Women's National Team

Hello from Nykoping, Sweden – the home of the 2011 Women’s Hockey Four Nations Cup!  We’ll be updating this blog frequently so that you guys can follow Team USA’s experience at the Four Nations Cup.  I’m in Nykoping, Sweden, running on 31 hours without sleep (I failed nap time in kindergarten; therefore, never learned how to nap).  The eight-hour plane ride was filled with sleeping, movies and studying.  Bridesmaids is the hands down favorite as players can rehearse entire scenes word for word.  Somehow the law and psych students tuned out the laughter and kept their noses buried in their books for the entire flight.  Impressive feat.

At 7am we landed in the homeland of IKEA and bused to Nykoping.  Surprisingly, the jet lag and severe lack of sleep didn’t affect us at practice.  Typically after these travel days, we look like zombies and are prone to fall asleep if coach takes longer than 10 seconds explaining a drill.  After a solid 90 minute skate and short workout, we headed back to the hotel for dinner and cards.  Well, we’ve fought off the sleep long enough, it’s now time to crash so have a great night and god bless!–Gigi

Glad to see someone continue to journal while in Sweden. If in doubt about how to keep everyone not there in touch each day, feel free to ask Jen Schoullis. She did a great job when the girls were in Finland for the Twelve Nations Tournament in August.

    Thank you
